This summer The weather is sultry, The summer sun beats down on us, The heat relentless, The night sleepless, The sky starless, And yet; A breath caught in my lungs, A dream transitioning from fantasy to reality, A hope, A wish, A prayer, A desire, A request, A confirmation, A commencement, A renewal, A possibility, Of having the truest wishes of our souls drawn into reality; Of having our slate made anew; Of having colours brighter than ordinary Chalk to adorn it with; Of being certain that they would last, And that they would not run off No matter what, No matter what; Of having an interlude filled with immense joy And yet; The mind is addled with the promise of monotonous routines, The souls miserable with the notion that this revel , this breath of fresh air will soon be gone , reduced to a thing of the past; I am maddened by thoughts from this vein, Overwhelmed by the idea of not putting to good use this gift, this time , this quicks...
